Hundreds of political organizations from Brazil and Latin America will meet in Rio de Janeiro on November 14th to reinforce our unity and struggle for life for both peoples and nature. Top of the agenda for the Peoples’ Summit vs G20 will be to denounce the G20 countries’ contribution to world hunger, wars, exploitation of labor and nature as well as the climate catastrophe .
The Peoples’ Summit vs the G20 denounces the G20 countries direct responsibility in financing all the wars that are taking place in the world today. Palestine cries out and the world seems deaf while there is genocide. The G20 is yet another tool of imperialism to further entrench the plundering of the working class. The Peoples’ Summit will discuss the problems generated by the capitalist system and its neo-developmentalist ideology that directly affects the lives of workers in the countryside and in the city – producing hunger, misery and the destruction of nature.
The Peoples’ Summit vs the G20 is a tool that amplifies the cry for justice and reparations for the peoples of the world. The organization of this Summit is autonomous and independent of governments, it is self-financed by the organizations building this process of unity, struggle and resistance with the challenge of continuing to build actions and debates in the coming year.
COP 30, in 2025, will also be an international process of great visibility for Brazil, where the voice and teachings of the peoples in struggle must be present to overcome the ecological crisis of capitalism and build a new economy.
This process began in the first months of this year, 2024, and since then, different movements and organizations have come together and others have left. After an intense reorganization process, we reaffirm the necessity of having the People’s Summit vs the G20, on November 14th , in Rio de Janeiro, as an anti-racist, anti-patriarchal and anti-imperialist counter to the G20 Summit.
Therefore, it is with great enthusiasm and strength that we will also gather to raise our flags as we march on November 16, to continue building and strengthening the international struggle against capital, against racism, sexism and the genocide of the Palestinian people, and for historical reparations for the indigenous peoples, the Africans/Afro-descendants and marginalized people!
Life over profit!
People and nature are not for sale!
